House / techno / electronoica DJ / producer Owen Howells was born in the UK and moved with his family to Australia in the 90’s. It was in Adelaide that his love for electronic music and hedonistic underground parties was born. Owen comments ‘I got my first pair of turntables at the age of 14 and quickly became immersed in DJing and music in general. Drawing influence from many genres such as hip hop, folk & reggae, I like quirky, unique music that gets people moving’ As part of his double act with Nick Varley, Owen has played at just about every major club in London, including Pacha & Ministry of Sound. The pair have opened for internationally renowned acts including Mauro Picotto, Stefano Noferini, Sebastian Voigt, Cagedbaby, Moguai, GinaStar & Groove Armarda. Things are going global with confirmed gigs in the Czech Republic, Australia and Thailand. 2010 has been a great year for Owen culminating in the release of his debut EP ‘Chips, Beans & Cheese’ on Wunderkammer Recordings in December. The tight production techniques with boundary pushing, pulsating rhythms will please even the most discerning of house & techno aficionados. Inspiration came partly from travelling around Asia, Australia & Europe, but also from making his home in the melting pot that is London. Owen also hosts his notorious weekly underground house and techno show on England’s own fresh radio.
