The Violent Years dwell in deepest southern Norway. Their songs are made of an anxious bitter sweet unrequited Love inspired by a contrasting backdrop of natural beauty and the highest rate of depression in the country. The sound, though occationally soft and romantic, are intense & apocalyptic - toring through reams of blues, dark folk and americana licks, and has often been accused of invoking the haunting spirits of artists such as the late Joy Division, Songs:Ohia, Sixteen Horsepower and Nick Cave.
Previously The Violent Years have done clubs and festivals in Norway and Europe, amongst PopKomm/Berlin 2007 and supporting american doom-folk syndicate Wovenhand. Their debut minialbum is due to be released April 21st (distr. Playground Scandinavia).
